ACCESSIBLE INFRASTRUCTURE

Experimental:

  • Fully equipped laboratory for organic pollutant measurements with high sensitivity analytical chemistry devices (GC/FID/FPD, GC/MS with Thermal Desorption Unit, HPLC).
  • Mobile unit for measurements of meteorological parameters and atmospheric pollutants. Meteorological mast of 84 m height with four platform levels.

 

Software:

EREL: a set of simulation codes for atmospheric dispersion and air-ground interaction problems, including cases of heavy gas, buoyant and passive pollutants over complex terrain and surface water flows (surface runoff) and underground transport (infiltration).
The code system includes: topography simulation (DELTA/GAIA), ground surfaces illumination (DELTA/HELIOS), runoff simulation (DELTA/HYDRO), meteorological preprocessor (FILMAKER), meteorology simulation in two modes, diagnostic and prognostic (ADREA), atmospheric dispersion (DIPCOT-ADREA HF, ADREA-D), model evaluation-uncertainty (MEDISTAT), simulation of flow, heat and mass transfer in porous media, oil/gas reservoir simulators, stochastic reconstruction of porous samples.

Automatic measurements of gas pollutants (O3, NO, NO2, NMHC, CH4 and SO2). Measurements of Volatile Organic Compounds outdoors and (benzene, toluene etc). Measurements of total and/or specific VOC in chimney stacks with simultaneous measurements of flue-gases. Measurements of sulfur and carbonyl compounds. Measurements of polyaromatic hydrocarbons in the atmosphere according to the EPA TO-13 method and in agreement with the European Commission guidelines for PAH. Measurements of meteorological parameters (wind-speed, wind direction, precipitation, humidity, temperature and UV radiation). Consultancy in specific environmental matters. Atmospheric dispersion in industrial and urban areas.Mass and heat transfer in porous media with application in hydrocarbon recovery from ground reservoirs, oil/gas reservoir characterization and simulation, transport of pollutants in soil and reconstructed porous structures, tracer flow in reservoirs and aquifers, controlled release of active substances and transdermal drug delivery.
