The National Centre for Scientific Research "Demokritos" is a multidiscipline centre with research and development activities in the areas of:

Energy
New materials
Solid State Physics and Microelectronics
Informatics and Telecommunications
Health
Environment
Cultural Heritage

Therefore, a wide range of expertise has been acquired complemented by appropriate high technology research and service facilities.

The research activities of the centre are carried out in eight Institutes. Research teams of NCSR 'Demokritos' have developed scientific cooperations with international organizations and companies.

Technology transfer can be in the form of:

· Joint projects (basic research, R&D) by enterprises and NCSR 'Demokritos' working as partners through sharing of costs or supported by public funds.
· Development of products and processes with market applications.
· Contract research and development.
· Service work can be offered at the scientific and technological facilities at NCSR 'Demokritos'
· Consulting services in all the areas of expertise of NCSR 'Demokritos'

In the case of cooperation projects, scientific and technical personnel may work at NCSR 'Demokritos'. All forms of technology transfer will follow financial and contractual matters between the enterprises and NCSR 'Demokritos'.
